TAKING YOUR FIRST CLASS?
& Yoga is a community of people that shares a love of yoga, and is curious to try things out. Our weekly classes are filled with all ages and abilities. Everyone is welcome!
✓ No such thing as a ‘yoga body’: Everyone can find something that works for them in yoga. I carefully plan and guide you through each class.
✓ No jargon or lingo: I practice meditation and yoga sequences using everyday language, demonstrating the poses to help make it accessible to all.
✓ The ‘& Yoga’ vibe: Our classes are filled with people just like you! You can come alone, or with friends. You will be a welcome part of our small group classes.
✓ Relax, you deserve it: We end the class with a session of deep rest… everyone deserves more rest.
On the day:
Please arrive five minutes before the start time.
If you have a yoga mat then bring it along, along with any cushion, block or strap you might use in your practice. Mats and blocks are available to borrow and try out in class, if required. Get in touch in advance of the class to request one.
Our yoga practice is not a workout class – it is completely different. Try not to eat in the 90 minutes before the start of your class - the movement, meditation and relaxation are easier if you have an empty stomach. Try to be well hydrated too if you can, as we can get quite hot in class and dehydration might cause cramps, and affect your balance. It's a good idea to bring water to sip on in the class too.
You'll enjoy the class best if you wear comfy or loose clothing that's easy to move around in and tha you can take layers off as you get warmer, and then layer up to keep comfortably warm as we cool down at the end. This could be loose trousers, leggings or tracksuit bottoms, and a tshirt or comfy top, and also a sweatshirt. Some people like to tuck up under a blanket at the end of class, during final relaxation.
You will not wear shoes during the practice, but some people wear socks/yoga socks when the weather is a bit colder. If you have any questions, then get in touch.
